A magical scene in the winter. Its important for crops of berries and cherries to get enough cold weather through the winter to help the plants, trees and flowers develop properly.
Bees are so important for the pollination of fruit flowers. We establish and protect habitats wherever we can.Think about what you can do help the bees? Maybe dedicate a corner of your garden, an area of your playground or get together with colleagues and convert a bit of boring grass outside the office!
Newly planted raspberries in pots. To avoid soil diseases killing new plants we now plant some of our crops into pots. The pots are filled with coir (renewable waste coconut shell) which gives the roots a clean medium to grow in. We don't grow any crops in peat.
Strawberry picking in poly tunnels. Without poly tunnels it would be impossible to produce berries and cherries in Scotland, all of our berries and cherries would have to be imported during our, sometimes driech summers!
